We need more Groundhog Day music!
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: there’s a real dearth of Groundhog Day related music and that needs to change.
Of course there’s the soundtrack to the movie Groundhog Day, and in recent years we’ve gotten the Groundhog Day musical cast recording. There’s that album of Groundhog Day carols that we wrote about a few years back. But other than that, there’s really not a lot. You can fill maybe 2-3 hours top with what’s currently out there.
And it doesn’t make a lot of sense. Groundhog Day songs seems like a real gold mine – there are tons of Groundhog Day fans around the world, and we all want music to listen to in the weeks leading up to the holiday. Any artist that capitalizes on this need, and releases a full album of groundhog and Groundhog Day themed songs will make more money than they know what to do with. Just imagine a Taylor Swift Groundhog Day album, or a Dave Matthews one! You’d buy it, and so would we.
If you know any musicians let them know how much you’d like some Groundhog Day music. If you’re a musician, get to writing, and you’ll never lack for money again!
