As reported previously, Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney is going to be a little different this year. Normally tens of thousands of people show up to celebrate with Punxsutawney Phil, but, in November, the Groundhog Club announced that there would be no live crowds at Gobbler’s Knob in 2021, and that the prediction ceremony would be virtual.
Now though, there’s a way you can still be in Gobbler’s Knob when Punxsutawney Phil gives his prediction. The Groundhog Club is selling cardboard cutouts that will be placed in the audience during the ceremony.
You just submit a photo, and pay $75, and a cardboard version of your face will be placed in the crowd on February 2nd. Each cutout will also have a picture taken on stage and be available for download at no additional cost. The cutout will also be signed by members of the Groundhog Inner Circle. You can either pick up the cutout at the Gobbler’s Knob Visitor Center before the next Groundhog Day, or have it shipped to you for an additional $75.
If you want to support Punxsutawney Phil and have some extra money to spend, this might be a fun way to celebrate the holiday this year. Indeed for some people this might be the closest they ever get to being in Punxsutawney on Groundhog Day.
If you plan on purchasing a cutout let us know. We’d love to see the pictures after the holiday is over.
