On Sunday, February 2nd, 2025, Scramble the Duck provided his annual Duck Day (a.k.a. Groundhog Day) prediction at the Ivy Glenn Memorial, in Eastford, Connecticut. The Countdown to Groundhog team was on hand to witness the event.
This was the 11th annual Duck Day. The ceremony started with some words from Scramble’s handlers, including some bold words about how Scramble is a superior prognosticator to Punxsutawney Phil.
Scramble was then removed from his duck house, and he waddled around a bit. Then Scramble’s prediction was read to the crowd.
Scramble failed to see his shadow, indicating that there will be an Early Spring, delighting the crowd of around 50.
After Scramble’s prediction, State Senator Jeff Gordon and State Representative Pat Boyd presented Scramble with a citation thanking him for his service. Boyd then suggested that they put forward a motion for Scramble be named the official prognosticator of Connecticut, indicating some potential displeasure with Lutz Children’s Museum’s Chuckles, who is the official groundhog of the state.

Although it was very cold, it was also very fun. Thanks Scrambles!
