Punxsutawney Groundhog Day 2021 celebration will be virtual

The Groundhog Club announced in a video Wednesday that, due to the pandemic, there will be no in-person gatherings or celebration in Punxsutawney this forthcoming Groundhog Day.

According to Groundhog Club President Jeff Lundy the handlers will still pull Punxsutawney Phil out of his home for his prediction, but no guests will be allowed on the grounds.

Lundy mentioned that there will be plenty of virtual activities and the ceremony will be live streamed. You can view the announcement below.

While this is disappointing news for many, it’s also probably for the best. Hopefully gatherings will be safe again for Groundhog Day 2022.
