Benny the Bass says there will be an early spring in 2026
Benny the Bass has once again taken the bait and predicted an early spring for 2026, at Buckeye Lake’s Winterfest.
Every year, to kick off Winterfest, minnows are dumped into Benny’s tank. If he eats one within 3 minutes, that means there will be an early spring. And, as has happens more often than not, Benny did eat some minnows.
Benny’s prediction is the first of the Groundhog Day 2026 season, and always occurs on the final Saturday of January. There are a number of other planned events taking place today as well. Buffalo Bert, Tinicum Tim, and South Shore Sally are all scheduled to provide prognostications this morning or afternoon. Several prognosticators, such as Jessup Giuseppe, Cincinnati Sammy, and Fig Newton, are expected to make their forecasts tomorrow, with the majority of the rest occurring on the holiday itself.
