Fig Newton

Fig Newton is a groundhog ambassador who made his first weather prediction at the Schiele Museum of Natural History in Gastonia, North Carolina, during the Groundhog Day 2026 season .

Fig was presented with two signs during his Groundhog Day appearance. One said "Early Spring" and the other "6 more weeks of winter." Whichever he gravitated towards indicated his prediction.

Fig has a neurological condition which affects his balance and was donated to the museum by a rescue organization who determined that he was un-releasable to the wild.

Fig also predicted the winner of the Super Bowl during his Groundhog Day event.
