Concord Casimir’s Groundhog Day 2025 Prediction

Concord Casimir made his much anticipated forecast this Sunday at Ellison Creek Knob in Concord, Ohio. Casimir is predicting an end of winter to be a “mess” in 2025 with overly fluctuating temperatures and an abundance of precipitation with abrupt changes from snow to rain. Keep your “galoshes” handy says Casimir. The car washes will be remarkably busy.
How do we know this? It’s all in the way Casimir eats his pierogi, states John Niedzialek, Master of Ceremonies and what a mess he made out of it this year. That can only mean one thing of course and finally people are starting to give Casimir the credit he deserves as his forecasts have been flawless.
Niedzialek and Casimir say we know that there is an animal in Pennsylvania that gets a lot of attention in predicting the weather but we don’t mention the “P” word around here. It’s kind of like Ohio State fans referring to “that team up north.” We just refer to that animal in Pennsylvania as “The Critter out East.” And quite honestly, he has not been very good at predicting the weather.
Casimir has been doing a lot of studying of the weather this year and watching the forecasters do their thing. Casimir gets a great chuckle out of the “fancy pants” meteorologists on TV trying to predict the long-range forecast by throwing out terms like “El Nino and La Nina.”
Casimir’s response to that is “what about El Pierogi?”
This past year, Casimir has gained the attention of many including Mrs. T’s Pierogies. Casimir says what’s wrong with getting some free pierogis for my efforts? “We have football players out there making millions of dollars and losing most of their games and I’m undefeated in my forecasts.”

Casimir was found abandoned as a kitten on the footsteps of St. Casimir Polish Church on Cleveland’s East side at what many are now calling “Cleveland’s Miraculous Polish Church” after it reopened on July 15, 2012. Perhaps it is just a coincidence, but Concord Casimir shares the same birthday of July 15. Is it divine intervention or is Casimir just that good? In any case, why would anyone listen to a groundhog?
John Niedzialek is a weather enthusiast retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Niedzialek has been a part-time instructor at Lakeland College teaching Earth Science and Meteorology, is the 1994 Greater Cleveland Golf Champion, conducts erosion control inspections on construction sites, works part time for the Lake County Soil & Water Conservation District, and volunteers at St. Casimir Church.
