Grady the Groundhog

Grady the Groundhog was a groundhog at Chimney Rock State Park in Chimney Rock, North Carolina, who provided Groundhog Day prognostications from 2007 to 2016./p>

During his Groundhog Day appearance, Grady would look for his shadow. If Grady saw his shadow, that would indicate there would be six more weeks of winter. Otherwise, if he did not see his shadow, there would be an early spring.

A program was usually held during the Groundhog Day celebration giving the history of the groundhog and legend of Groundhog Day. Crafts for kids were also available.

Grady passed away in 2016, and was replaced by fellow groundhog Greta.
