Description: Shubenacadie Sam is the first groundhog to make a prediction every year on Groundhog Day at 8am sharp (Atlantic time). Sam lives at the Shubenacadie Wildlife Park in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia and has been predicting since at least 1999 but possibly as far back as the 1980s. Several hundred, to sometimes over a thousand people, attend the ceremony each year, depending on the weather and when the holiday falls. A town crier and bagpiper help Sam make his announcement.
