Pumpkin

Pumpkin the Groundhog was the groundhog ambassador at Chimney Rock State Park in Chimney Rock, North Carolina, who provided a Groundhog Day forecast in 2022 and 2023.

On Groundhog Day, Pumpkin would emerge from her den to look for her shadow. If Pumpkin saw her shadow, that would indicate there would be a long winter. Otherwise, if Pumpkin failed to see her shadow, that meant there would be an early spring.

Pumpkin replaced the previous prognosticator, Greta, after her death.

Pumpkin unfortunately passed away in the spring of 2023, and was replaced by Potato and Yam, two other groundhogs.
