A ceremony was held wherein Greta informed the crowd how much winter was left, with the Mayor of Chimney Rock Village in attendance as well as kid-friendly crafts, family-friendly activities, and more. Greta passed away in the fall of 2021. The park has had multiple groundhogs both before and after Greta, going back to at least the early 2000s and possibly as far back as the mid 1990s.
