Woodine

Woodine (sometimes spelled Woodene) was a groundhog who provided Groundhog Day predictions in the 1980s at the Milwaukee County Zoo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

On Groundhog Day, Woodine would look for her shadow. If she saw it, that would indicate there would be a long winter. If Woodine failed to see her shadow, there would be an early spring.

The Groundhog Day festivities would often include Groundhog carols being sung by a Milwaukee choral group. Attendance numbered in the hundreds.
