Grover the Groundhog and Sweet Arrow Sue
Pine Grove Grover is a stuffed groundhog who has been providing a Groundhog Day prediction every year since 2007, at a ceremony at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park, in Pine Grove, Pennsylvania.
During his annual appearance, hosted by the Sweet Arrow Lake Conservation Association, the "Groundhog Day Poem" is read. Then, Grover is observed. If he casts a shadow, there will be a long winter. If Grover does not cast a shadow, there will be an early spring.
A buffet breakfast with items such as sausage and pancakes is held, which leads up Grover's prediction.
After the prediction there are usually Pennsylvania Dutch stories and live music.
Over 100 people usually attend Grover's Groundhog Day festivities.
Grover was married in 2012, and since then he has been accompanied by his wife, who is named Sweet Arrow Sue.
Grover was originally associated with Groundhog Lodge No. 5 in Pine Grove (Grundsau Lodsche Nummer Fimfe an der Schwador im Beind Busch), Pennsylvania, which disbanded in 2016.
