Ms. G

Ms. G is the official state groundhog of Massachusetts, and has been forecasting the weather every Groundhog Day at Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary in Lincoln, Massachusetts, since 2008.

A ceremony is held with Ms. G emerging from her burrow. If Ms. G sees her shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter. Otherwise, there will be an early spring.

Besides the prediction, there is usually music, and activities like crafts, nature programs, and hot chocoloate.

Crowd sizes vary depending on the day of week and weather.

Ms. G became the official state groundhog on July 31st, 2014 through Bill H.2864, the result of a campaign from students at Hunnewell Elementary School in Wellesley.
