Quentin the Quahog
Since the early 1980s, a quahog named Quentin has provided a prediction on Groundhog Day, on Nantucket in Massachusetts.
During his appearance, Quentin has his shell cracked open, usually by the Nantucket Harbormaster. If Quentin squirts left, there will be six more weeks of winter. If Quentin squirts right there, will be an early spring.
After his prediction, Quentin is eaten, meaning a new Quentin is chosen every year.
The tradition ran dormant for a few years starting in the mid-2010s, but was revived in 2023.
