Will and Wiley
Will and Wiley, grizzly bear brothers, have been predicting the weather, on or near Groundhog Day, since their arrival in at the Oklahoma City Zoo, in 2003, from Alaska.
During their Groundhog Day appearance, the bears are presented with enrichments representing spring and winter, and whichever enrichment they choose to interact with first determines whether there will be an early spring or long winter.
Refreshments such as hot chocolate and donuts are often offered.
In 2024 the bears were still in torpor on Groundhog Day and the zoo chose to let them continue sleeping. No event was held in 2025, either.In 2025, Will was humanely euthanized, after living with arthritis for several years, and experiencing decreased mobility.
