Beardsley Bart

Beardsley Bart, known as the "Prognosticating Prairie Dog", has been making predictions at the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, Connecticut, since the early 2000s.

Beardsley Bart makes his prognostication early in the morning on Groundhog Day with the Zoo Director and Bridgeport Mayor. If Bart sees his shadow, then there will be six more weeks of winter. If Bart fails to see his shadow, there will be an early spring. Bart also always says that spring is coming eventually, something that has generally proven true, thus far.

After he provides his forecast, Bart then goes back underground to sleep the rest of the winter away.
