Chilly Charlie

Chilly Charlie is a groundhog mascot who has been providing a Groundhog Day forecast in Woodstock, Ontario, since the early 2000s.

If Charlie sees his shadow during his appearance at the South Gate Centre, then that means there will be six more weeks of winter. Otherwise, there will be an early spring.

A pancake and sausage breakfast is usually held in conjunction with Charlie's forecast.

The tradition of Chilly Charlie began in 2003 when a group of friends, who were on their way to see Wiarton Willie, got stuck in a snowstorm, leading them to decide to start their own local event the next year.
