Flatiron Freddy is a stuffed yellow-bellied marmot who has been providing a weather prediction as part of Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) Rangers' Groundhog Day celebration in Boulder, Colorado, since the early 2010s.
If Freddy casts a shadow during his annual appearance, there will be a long winter. Otherwise, there will be an early spring.
Freddy, who wears a top-hat, shows up to his prediction ceremony in different ways, including via zipline, canoe, bobsled, and fire engine.
Freddy originally comes from Boulder's Flagstaff Nature Center. When his fur was damaged, instead of being disposed of, he was given new life as a Groundhog Day prognosticator.
