Chesapeake Chuck

Chesapeake Chuck is a groundhog who has been providing Groundhog Day predictions at the Virginia Living Museum in Newport News, Virginia, since 2014.

If Chesapeake Chuck, a groundhog ambassador for the museum, sees his shadow during his appearance, there will be six more weeks of winter. Otherwise, there will be an early spring.

Other activities, such as face painting, puppet shows, games, and crafts, are often part of the museum's Groundhog Day festivities.

During his tenor, other animals have occasionally stood in for Chuck on Groundhog Days when he was hibernating.

Visitors to the museum were able to vote on what Chuck's name would be, prior to his first prediction. Other options were Colonial Clyde or Tidewater Ted.
