Turkey and Sequoia

Turkey (female) and Sequoia (male) are capybaras who provided the weather prediction on Groundhog Day at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2025.

Turkey and Sequoia were separately presented with two boxes full of treats. One was labeled "Early Spring" and the other was labeled "Long Winter." Whichever box they chose to eat from indicated their prediction for the weather for the remainder of the season.

Turkey and Sequoia succeeded Sassafras, a black bear who provided the previous year's Groundhog Day prediction.
