Potomac Phil

Potomac Phil is a taxidermy mounted groundhog who, since 2012, has offered a weather prediction at the annual Dupont Circle Groundhog Day celebration in Washington D.C.

During Potomac Phil's annual appearance, if he sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter. Otherwise, there will be an early spring.

Past activities at the event have included live accordion music, polka dancers, a puppet show, VIP celebrities, and more.

Since this celebration takes place in the United States capital, Potomac Phil also offers a political prediction which seems to always indicate there will be six more weeks of political gridlock.

Potomac Phil is said to be Punxsutawney Phil's cousin. He is usually seen holding a corncob.
