Mortimer was a groundhog who provided a Groundhog Day forecast in Garner, North Carolina, at White Deer Park, from 2010 until 2014.

Mortimer didn't give a prediction based on whether he saw his shadow or not, but instead involved online research including historical weather trends and weather maps.

At Mortimer's Groundhog Day festivities there were usually games, crafts, educational activities, mascots like McGruff the Crime Dog, and live animals.

Mortimer was provided to the event by CLAWS, Inc., a wildlife rehabilitation facility in North Carolina.

Mortimer was succeeded by his understudy Snerd, when he retired after his final prediction in 2014.
