Miss Lottie was a groundhog who provided a Groundhog Day prediction at the Charlotte Nature Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina, from 1995 to 2000, taking over for the museum's previous prognosticating groundhog, Harvey.
During the museum's Groundhog Day event, if Miss Lottie saw their shadow, that indicated that there would be a long winter. Otherwise, there would be an early spring.
The museum held a contest to name the groundhog, and Lottie, a nickname for Charlotte, was chosen.
Originally believed to be female, Lottie was later revealed to be a male, and was sometimes thereafter referred to as Mr. Lottie or just Lottie.
Lottie died in 2000 and was replaced by Queen Charlotte.
