Sam Champion is a groundhog from the Save The Animals Rescue (STAR) Foundation who has provided Groundhog Day forecasts at the Quogue Library since 2023.

If Sam Champion sees his shadow on Groundhog Day, that indicates there will be a long winter. If Sam Champion does not see his shadow, that indicates that spring is right around the corner.

Champion is named after ABC's powerful weather anchor of the same name.

Sam Champion was formerly known as Quogue Quigley.

In 2025, Sam Champion provided a joint prediction with fellow groundhog Al Roker.
