On Groundhog Day 2025, the Greater Buda Chamber of Commerce in Buda, Texas, held their first-ever Ground Dog Day, and their Honorary Ground Dog, a dachshund named Nacho, provided a weather prediction during the event.

Nacho's prediction was based on whether he chose a stuffed snowman (long winter) or a sunshine plush (early spring).

A different dog is chosen to be the Honorary Ground Dog each year.
