Description: Snerd has been forecasting the weather on Groundhog Day at White Deer Park in Garner, North Carolina since 2015, replacing the previous groundhog who was named Mortimer. At Garner's Groundhog Day event, there's music, live animals, mascots such as Smokey Bear , and different educational activities/crafts. Attendance is usually several hundred people depending on the weather and day of week the holiday falls on. Snerd doesn't give a prediction based on whether he sees his shadow or not, but consults almanacs and the internet, and confers with Mother Nature. Snerd, is provided to the event by CLAWS, Inc., a wildlife rehabilitation facility in North Carolina.
