Description: Sir Walter Wally is a groundhog who lives at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and provided a Groundhog Day forecast from 1998 to 2022. On Groundhog Day there was a Shadow Ceremony on the Museum's front steps with the mayor presiding as the "Groundhog Whisperer." There were many activities associated with the event including a "Groundhog Song" being sung, a groundhog hat making station, and the Groundhog Toss. When the event took place on a weekday there were about 2,000 attendees but on a weekend there were sometimes as many as 9,000 spectators. There were several Sir Walter Wallys over the years.
